Fios and CableCARDs?

So hopefully in the next two months I'll be moving to Providence and I will finally be able to do away with comcast and get Fios. Since I have never had Fios I've doing research on pricing and what they offer. So far it looks like we will be getting the Prime HD and Quantum 50mbs which is about the same price we pay for Comcast now, but is way faster internet and more channels( minus BBC :( ).

Now when I look at the cable boxes I see the option for a CableCARD; I know what they are but have never seen a company offer them openly before. Because of that I've started looking into possible devices that use CableCARDs so I only would have to pay $5 a month for DVR rather than $16-20. After doing loads of searching it seems there aren't too many devices besides Tivo that can use CableCARDs. The two devices I have found so far is the InfiniTV 6 and the HDHomeRun PRIME. They are the same price normally and both have their pros and cons.

So does anyone have experience with CableCARDs or know of some other alternatives? I'm really tired of paying out the ass "renting" cable boxes.

Sorry I don't have anything to add. But with 50 Mbps internet why would you still pay for TV? Pretty much everything is online.

The main reason for cable is my gf likes to watch TV. I know I can watch everything on hulu the next day(besides CBS and some other channels) but she likes her live TV. Also a lot of companies kind of force you to buy the packages because they are actually cheaper than buying one thing by itself.
