As some of you may Know I am quite the Cartoon aficionado, recently the decent folk over at 4chan, more specifically the thread Comics and Cartoons (which I frequent a lot) have done a campaign to air the Lost and banned episode "Dexter's Rude Removal"

a little backstory

The team which Involved the show's creator Gennedy Tartakovsky (Samurai Jack, animated 2D clone wars and Sym-bionic Titan) and Craig McCraken (Powerpuff Girls, Foster's house of Imaginary friends AND 2 stupid dogs) had written and directed this particular episode for pretty much originally thought for shits and giggles here is Gennedy on an AMA on reddit

I've got a question about the episode "Dexter's Rude Removal." Years back, I heard of a thoroughly adult-oriented episode of Dexter's Laboratory, that was allegedly created solely for the entertainment of those who worked on Dexter's Lab. The rough plot was that Dexter felt Dee-Dee's rudeness was becoming too big of a problem, and so he created a device that would render her entirely polite. The device ends up malfunctioning, and separates Dee-Dee and Dexter into two "good and rude" versions of themselves.

The rude versions are exceedingly vile, cursing and acting tremendously rude. At one point, allegedly, Dee-Dee calls Dexter a "Skull-fucking douchebag". There's a lot more information here.

My question is what ever happened to this cartoon? I'm sure a lot of Dexter's Lab fans would love to see it. :) How accurate is the description of that episode in the forum post linked above? Do you have any plans on releasing it to the public? (Pretty please!)

Sidenote: You're a huge inspiration, and I absolutely love your work. Thank you for years of entertainment!

To me, this is huge. So it was always intended to be just another episode making heavy use of bleeps (Like Spongebob would later do with Sailor Mouth), but Cartoon Network didn't think it was appropriate, I would imagine due to the context that the bleeps were placed in.

So, to me, this sounds like someone noticed the episode never airing, heard why, and then through a "broken telephone" kind of discussion, it has grown this myth about it being something the animators made for themselves. Kind of disappointed all things considered, and I won't be truly satisfied until I see the episode, but, man.... It feels good to have the mystery laid to rest.

Also absolutely loved Samurai Jack, hope a proper ending comes soon.

This is pretty much big news as since it was supposed to be aired much like the "Sailor mouth" episode from Spongebob Squarepants but Cartoon Network pretty much were too scared and never aired.

BUT LORD HUCKINGTON YOU SCULPTED ADONIS OF A MAN WOULDN'T IT BEEN ALREADY IN THE INTERNET UPLOADED?!

well my keen eyed readers mind you this was made around 97-98 before the rise of upload videos on the internet and was only in VHS and only aired "according to rumors" to the southeast Asian countries such as Indonesia, New Guinea, and Polynesia. Never to be aired only in the cartoon network vault and the hands of Gennedy Tartakovsky (initially denied at first)

This has eventually grown into a myth and legend perpetuated by animators until they aired it to the public once at comic con around 1999-2000 when Gennedy made a Special Appearance

The short was created entirely for the amusement of the staff. It was an in-house project and was never meant to be shown on TV. It has been shown at Comic-Con once, when Gennedy Tartakovsky making a special appearance. Somehow, it has managed to stay off of the internet and hardly anyone has seen it.

Here is Craig McCraken confirming the Episode's Existence
