[Minecraft] Tekkit Going Away?

CorruptDictator

I want a custom title, but I dont trust VintagePC
Someone mentioned to me that use of Tekkit might be going away in the future in favor of service side mods? Is this true?

i highly doubt it considering to many people are going to complain about the old map being gone and i really think that people would want to go away from mods that add content back to plugin based only mods that add no new machines and such

what might happen and most likely will happen is a 2nd mc server running on 1.4.6/1.4.7 with way more mods then tekkit has currently and a lot more stable although a bit harder on fps

I don't know about "going away", but I've been looking over other modpacks and launchers to possibly put up another minecraft server of some type. There are a few launchers that are releasing updates soon that do some pretty spectacular things, such as specifying the mods you want to run on the server, giving your users a code-hash to put in their launcher, which downloads only the mods your server uses, and in the correct versions. This would allow us to roll our own launcher, add mods when they're released (by updating the player launcher hash code) update mods as they update, individually, without the super-huge bugs and rumored huge community drama within the tekkit community.

Unfortunately the tekkit map won't be compatible, but I will probably not be taking it down, as it's been reasonably popular and has some dedicated regulars that have put a LOT of time into it, myself included.

just to say the hash code will remain the same so someone only would have to type in the code once and every time you update the pack the user gets asked to update the pack or not :3 just figured id add that
