Stupid shit your customers say at work.

lonesome killer

I work in retail. Currently I work in the electronics department. I hear people say stupid shit every day, especially in my area. What stories do you have?

Today a lady called. She asked if we have the iPad mini's. I asked her what size, meaning how many GB's. She said "the mini."

Someone called and said they were looking for a tablet. The only way they could describe it was it was black and 10". Do you know many black 10" tablets there are?

To be honest, the lifespan of Apple laptop has improved a LOT from when I first worked on them years ago. Back then it felt like once a unit was just over two year old it would develop a bunch of expensive to fix problems. Now the laptops rarely come back for non-custom caused repairs.

^ All about HTC. Just got me the Droid DNA.

Samsung Galaxy is a close 2nd.

That's the beauty of Android. You have options, unlike Apple. It's take it or leave it.

i still have my first gen ipod touch and only last week did it develop its first problem(every app crashing on startup)

anyways

the stupidest thing i have heard someone say actually came from a guy working in a store i was in a costumer asked "What is a good antivirus for my sons laptop as i have avg free on it" and the guy working there said "Oh its norton if you but it and install it you wont ever have any problems anymore no viruses no nothing" all i could do is just facepalm and help that guy out before he brought that piece of virus we call an antivirus :p

Well, preventing you from booting your PC _does_ keep it from getting viruses... It's a close second to the best method, which is not turning on your PC at all :D

As a waiter at a sports bar. "This ranch is to salty!" proceed to bring out a different cup of the same ranch, poured from the same ranch goblet thing we got going on for the in house ranch, "Oh wow, much better." Mhm, alright, bitch on your own time.

Two things.

1) Old lady asks me "Do you have cell phone carrying cases?" "Sure, what kind of phone do you have?" "A small one" /facepalm.

2) Guy calls and asks if we have a certain TV in stock. We've been out for about 2 months, so I tell him no. He says he lives about 200 miles away and just wants to check before he drives down here. I told him to buy it from the website. He said the website charges $75 for shipping and he doesn't want to pay that. I'm like....so you're gonna drive about 400 miles instead of paying $75? da fuq?

To understand that last guy, I work at the PX on a military base. A lot of retired old people feel privileged to shop here. Some of them do make special trips 100-200 miles to buy something if they are visiting friends or family. I can understand that. But then there's crazies like that guy who will drive 300 miles to spend $600 on a TV to save $75 on shipping and pay no tax when they could've just went to Walmart and saved gas and time.

Guy said he needed help with routers. I asked him how square feet is his house. He said he doesn't know. I said take a guess. He said "100,150"...Your house is 100 square feet? 100 feet long? I just told him that the router he had was a good fit.

Old grandparents come in all the time buying iPads and iPods for their grandchildren. Quite a few say it is because their grandchildren need to keep up with technology or else they will fall behind. I just want to tell them "You know your grandson is only going to watch porn on that thing right?"

Monday's are slow traffic wise, but I had 2 dumb statements today.

1) Man says he wants an iPad. I ask which one. "The 4th generation iPad 2."

2) Man walks up to me and a coworker and says "I had 2 laptops stolen out of my car, what do I do?" My coworker was like "file a police report."

This wasn't at work, this was me as a customer.

I'm looking for a Displayport adapter for my graphics card. Not a mini one, but a full size one.
I called this computer repair shop b/c sometimes they have miscellaneous things. I ask the guy if he has a Displayport adapter. He says "Display part adapter, that doesn't really tell me much." I tell him "Its a Display PORT adapter, you hook it onto your graphics card." He says "I've been doing this for years and never heard of that. Are you trying to hook up your monitor?" Me "Thanks" click.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DisplayPort This? That doesn't strike me as being a commonplace enough thing for you to be ragging on this guy.
