How To Install The Community Hud

This tutorial is for those who want to install a custom HUD for TF2. Pictures of said HUD can be found here.

Step 1) Obtain the Community HUD files
A commonly used custom HUD would be the "Community HUD," which can be found at: communitytf2hud - Project Hosting on Google Code

Step 2) Using Winzip, or any similar tool, (7zip is a free, quality alternative) extract the HUD files, into the "tf directory"
This directory can be found in the following path(s):
64bit OS: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\username\team fortress 2\tf
32bit OS: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\username\team fortress 2\tf

At this point, you are able to jump in game and just play with the new HUD. However, following, there is an optional, yet recommended step to return to a more public server friendly scoreboard.

Step 3) When you do the first two steps, your new default scoreboard will be a 6v6 competitive version. This means you will only see 6 players on each team. This can be remedied by going to the following steps:

-Go to the following directory C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\username\team fortress 2\tf\resource\ui\addons
-Once in this directory, you will see a file called "Scoreboard_16v16.res"
-Take this file, and move it to the following directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\username\team fortress 2\tf\resource\ui\
-Once you have moved it, rename it "Scoreboard.res"
-When it asks you to replace the current version of that file, do so, as it is replacing the 6v6 default scoreboard.

At this point, you will have the custom HUD installed, with a 16v16 capable scoreboard. When major updates are released (such as the WAR! update, and the Engineer update) you will have to reinstall the HUD. To do so, go to the original Community HUD link and download the newest HUD files, as released by the creator, and repeat the steps in this tutorial.
