You Know What Really Grinds Geoff's Gears?

What grinds my gears is the Apple reps at work.

They have started telling customers that Mac's don't get viruses, and they are only really susceptible to advanced network threats and if you get an Apple Airport router you will be safe.

I just want to put a virus on a thumbdrive and put them on all the display Apple computers. (But I won't do it cuz I'm a good boy)

People who walk around a parking lot, and drive out of said parking lot, like they are the only ones there. I've almost had 3 cars hit me in the last couple of days and multiple people have almost walked into my car while I moved as slow as possible backing out. Hey, jackasses, that giant ass piece of metal moving BACKWARDS is a car. Please stand clear and let him leave.

I'm amazed more accidents don't happen.

every time i park in a large parking lot i feel like its a scene in final destination and i may be the main character. i know that feel geoff

Only I feel like I am "Death" in the scene. I swear I am amazed that I haven't killed any pedestrians in a parking lot yet...

That apparently when I recommend shows, it means jack shit at this point.

When it gets to around 4-5PM (like it is now) and I try to decide if I want to get a few hours of sleep before work. If I do get sleep, I always end up pissed at myself because I try to wake up at a certain time, then when I wake up earlier, I decide to change my alarm. I eventually set it to 9:30PM and I wake up then...

If I DON'T get sleep, then around 8PM I start to get pissed because I'm extremely tired but I know an hour nap won't help.

Fuck. Sleep. =/

I'm most likely switching to graveyard shift in the next few weeks, and I've worked late shifts before. I feel this pain.

The other issue is that I DO sleep when I get home. I'm usually up for a couple of hours, but then I gotta get sleep. But I always wake up after 2-3 hours of sleep. Not sure why.

What works for me is allocate your sleeping in 1.5 hour blocks. It has to do with the way your body's sleep cycles work; it will make it easier to wake up at/closer to the designated time as well - so sleep for 3 hours, or 4.5, but don't do 3.5 or 4, because you'd be more likely to either wake up earlier than you want to, or have the alarm go off in the middle of your deepest part of sleeping (and you'll feel groggy the rest of the day).

People who can't fucking spell "Zeus". Z. E. U. S. How fucking difficult is that? Zues is not a fucking name you piece of shit. Fuck you.

When I wake up and it's dark out and I don't know if it's AM or PM. =/ Like seriously, wtf?

Y'know what really irks my neurons?

Companies doing weekend sale promotions and never having anyone available for contact when it inevitably screws up somewhere.

Spent 1h+ on the phone today with no answer because I wanted to get an order corrected since THEIR cart software wasn't working properly for the promotion and reflecting discounts. Sure, they fixed it _after_ the discount was originally scheduled to end (and extended the promo), but meanwhile I'm stuck with a partial order that doesn't get the promotion and nobody to fix or cancel it so I can just re-order the correct items.

All this Paul Walker talk. Soldiers die defending our country and nobody makes a facebook status about it. Children are starving to death and nobody makes a facebook status to recruit their friends to help a family in need. Some actor going too fast crashes and dies and it's facebook statuses for days.

Paul Walker was a great actor, we'll known for his movies. Not be insensitive, but soldiers are faceless. Unless a soldier dies by going super soldier and taking out 300 guys solo, it's not going to be as known as an actor.

I would be inclined to agree with Geoff. In the last week, 4 Canadian soldiers have committed suicide (they were all stationed in different CFBs). It's tragic, and DND seriously needs to figure out what the hell is going on, but I can't say I feel super emotional about it because I've never met any of these men. Paul Walker on the other hand, I've seen his movies. He is someone I have at least had some sort of connection with. Thusly, I did felt a bit of sadness when I found out he died (by the way, he wasn't the driver, his friend was driving).

Guys you can't try to rationalize stuff in the What Grinds My Gears topic.

And I understand he wasn't the driver. But he chose who to hang out with. My friend's idea of a good time is getting high, drinking, and/or one night stands with women at the bar. Guess what I do? I don't hang out with him. We get together about once every couple months and I always drive if we decide to go somewhere so if I don't like the situation I can leave. He knows this and understands it.

This wasn't true until Vietnam. During WW2 the media promoted soldiers as heroes, in the news and even in advertising. I used to listen to old radio shows while working just to keep my brain occupied, and Camel cigarettes had a "soldier of the week" that they'd promote during their commercials, telling you one or two of the things they did (such as a pilot that shot down 3 enemy planes, was shot down themselves, and trekked back to friendly territory) and would sent 5000 cartons to the troops in their honor. If ANYONE tried to show support for troops today, they'd get instantly destroyed in a PR/PC nightmare. Soldiers being nameless and faceless is our fault, not theirs. Actors being sensationalized is our fault as well.

Yes. Yes you can. It can still grind your gears. =P

I never said it wasn't our fault that we do this. But that's how it is currently.

People who queue up for a dungeon but then decline when it is ready. Fuck you.

Wanna know what grinds my gears?

Assholes who pull in front of you on the street without stopping at their stop sign, then go less than the speed limit. WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU? The only reason I don't beat their asses is I don't want to become a felon because I'll need my gun for the eventual liberal takeover of America.
