Question for anyone who lives in an apartment

I don't rent, but when I was looking at apartments the cheapest around here is a 1 bedroom garden apartment for $450-$500 a month. Anything decent to live in jumps up to around $650+. And it's a real shitty ghetto ass town.

I have friends in your area Lonesome... I have friends in High Point who rent for $600/mo, 2 bedroom, includes water. I've been to her apartment and it was very nice. I have another friend who lives in Greensboro, and they pay $550 for a 1 bedroom and it includes water as well. My uncle is a fireman in Winston-Salem and says those prices hold true to the triangle. That whole area is a great deal for renters.

Well, thanks for all these great posts ^_^

I thought my OP had this in it, but apparently not. My brother and his current roommate are also planning on buying a house within the next year and he said if I need a place to stay and have a job, then I'm more than welcome to rent a room there. So, that's fucking awesome.

As for apartments in my area, if I do get this job I am aiming for, I am just curious as to how my life style will change my bills. I mean, I look at how I lived when my parents and sister went to Florida for a week. The only lights on in the house were in the kitchen when I made some pizza at night and in the bathroom when I showered and went to the bathroom. Other than that, the tv was on when I used the xbox.

And hey, I don't care for movies or eating out, so that's already a ton of money I'll never spend. =D I wonder if there is a site that can calculate all of this and tell me how much I'd be spending in a month.

Lol, I've got a chick that I see every few months (we game online). Fuck having a girlfriend, they require too much. =D

Those areas are nice to live in. Unfortunately I live near Fayetteville (FayetteNam), which is right outside a Fort Bragg. The apartments are overpriced because of all the soldiers. There are pawn shops and strip clubs down every street. It's a real sleazy place.

My buddy pays for rent with heating and water included at his apartment.
I give my tenant electric free because he's blind.

Well, he's unlikely to leave the lights on all the time, right?

I'mGoingToHellForThisArentI?

SOP here is pretty much that, but it depends on the property owners; some cases you get basic utilities, in other cases you're out of pocket.
I don't have an apartment but I pay around $600/mo including water, electric, heat, cable, and internet.
