Now that a steampipe version of TF2 has been released, I'll be working on migrating our TF2 servers over to the new version. I don't anticipate a lot of problems, but you will see servers offline for a brief period while they are replaced and converted to the new system.

After some interesting things tonight, KOTH has been converted to steampipe. I'll be reviewing for ways to improve the setup before I continue switching other servers; while you can plan as much as you like in advance, stuff always crops up when it's showtime.

Performance improvements are noticeable both in terms of connect speed and server startup time.

So it seems sourcemod is crashing the steampipe-based servers under certain situations because the gamedata doesn't support the new system and will not do so until the official switch over. Am attempting to determine cause, but will revert KOTH if I cannot resolve.

I've disabled a few plugins that seem to trigger these crashes, steampipe KOTH seems stable now.

Furthermore, Dustbowl has been converted to Steampipe

I'm rather unhappy with the stability of steampipe servers at this time; it stems from an issue with sourcemod game data not matching the steampipe beta. Unfortunately this means it won't work properly until the server is "officially" switched over on the 30th.

Further update for those wondering. I've done backend conversion on ALL the tf2 servers in preparation for the switchover. However, all except KOTH will remain as the non-steampipe versions until the official release day owing to the mentioned instability. They may be switched over prior to the 30th if I can resolve the issue.

Barring last minute breakage, we should be prepared for the switchover as it happens.

I'll be flipping the switch tonight and converting things over to Steampipe. Tomorrow's transition should be transparent barring sourcemod gamedata updates.

Please note that some plugins/supporter perks may behave strangely or not function at all until this transition is complete. On the upside of things, I'm going to bring back the robot skins plugin to see if the issues have since been resolved; time for another test! ;)

stock servers have been converted. Mod servers will remain on old setup until official release as the mods tend to crash the server.

Servers have all been converted and seem to be running without issue. Please let me know if you encounter problems with plugins or features not working.

As an added bonus, Robot skins have been restored!
