Looking to get an SSD

lonesome killer

Banhammered
I have no idea where to start. I just want a great one. Price is no issue.

Also is size an issue? I think I overhead someone saying that you could get an 80GB one and set it up so that it switches files out as it needs them and can be "more" than 80 GB so you don't have to spends 100's on a 256 GB one?

If it matters here are my specs:

The Samsung 840's are awesome SSDs. The difference between the regular and Pro are that the Pro version write speed is much faster, so it would depend on how important write speed is as to which model you want. What are you going to use the SSD for? I, for instance, just use it for my OS, core programs and LoL, everything else is on a traditional drive.

I have used a lot of Intel for work computers, never had a single issue with a wide spread of models. The couple of OCZ ones I have gotten though have all developed issues over time. My only personal one is the Samsung 840 I mentioned, which comes in a number of sizes. Mine is the non-Pro 120GB.

Thanks for the recommendation.
I decided to go with Samsung 840 Pro 256 GB. It was in the top 5 list of every site I checked. Plus it's all made in house by Samsung, and they make amazing electronics from tv's to cell phones to tablets. Seemed like a no brainer. Now I need to find out how the copy the OS over.

I've used Paragon Partition manager's clone feature to do that, it's worked pretty well for me on a win7 pro install, no reactivation necessary.

There's a few free alternatives like clonezilla and Free Opensource Ghost ("FOG") that should let you do the same.
