Laptop Question

Looking at getting a new laptop and wondering what type of graphics card I should go with. GTX670M, GTX675M, or Radeon 7970M. 670, and 675 are the same price, but the 7970 is +300. Could go to the GTX680M, but that would be +495 which is getting up there. Any pros or cons as to what would be the best to get? I know the 7970M is probably the best out of those 3, but is it worth the extra $300?

Thx

For playing tf2 you would probably be fine with the 670m or the 675m. If you're planning on playing BF3 or games like that then you should go with the 680M

I don't play many other high graphics games and even the ones I would, I wouldn't need to play on Ultra settings with 1080p or anything like that. I think I might just go with the 675.

Try to avoid the 675M. It's a rebranded last-gen part. There's a version using this year's Kepler architecture called the 675MX. The 670M is another part to avoid (same thing with the 670MX). You might see laptops with the 680M and the 680MX. Those are both Kepler and would both run fine (although the 680MX is slightly better). Just to be completely clear, acceptable Nvidia mobile GPUs from the top: 680MX, 680M, 675MX, 670MX, 660M, 650M, 645M, 640M (non-LE). Everything else is 2011's Fermi instead of Kepler.

I know its confusing as hell, but Wikipedia has a chart for that:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compar...ocessing_units#GeForce_600M_.286xxM.29_series
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_AMD_graphics_processing_units#Radeon_HD_7xxxM_Series

Those tables might seem complicated, but it will be handy to see the exact differences between each GPU. That way, you can't get screwed over. Good luck on your laptop brother.

Sounds like I might want to just wait a little bit until those new cards are in some laptops. Thx for the info.
