Looking for 3D Blu Ray drive

Do you have any to recommend? I'm thinking an internal one, as they are cheaper and I don't really need it to be portable. I don't have a laptop to hook it to.

I don't think there is such a thing - all you need is the proper software/hardware to process the 3d information already on the BR disc, which can be read in any PC BR drive.
Setup is similar to that for 3d gaming in that it needs to work with nvidia's 3d vision (120hz monitor+shutter glasses, or regular monitor + red/blue glasses). ATI probably has an equivalent thing, but I don't know anything about it.

The reason you have a distinct group of '3d' players and 'regular' players for TVs is that the 3d ones need extra hardware to do the processing and output the 3d content to your TV - this is stuff your graphics card and CPU will do on your PC, no need for a special player.

As for brands, I'm currently a fan of LG, because my current one (GGW-H20L) came from a friends PC that was shipped and given the UPS treatment. (apparently it "fell off a conveyor" on its way here. It then got shipped BACK to the origin for inspection/claims (DENIED), and then back out here for salvage, both times with the drive just flopping around loose inside the case/box.) And that drive STILL works, it's only got a few scratches on the faceplate!

The H20L is now unobtainium and from that rare era where HD-DVD still existed, but any current model should be fine - I've had other LG drives, and the one time I needed warranty service (dead laser) they even sent a free upgrade to a newer model!

I always take reviews with a healthy grain of salt, and I'd hardly call 4/5 "bad reviews". Case in point: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=27-136-250&ParentOnly=1&IsVirtualParent=1

Overall, good reviews. Yes, some bad ones, but I wonder whether some people actually know what they're doing. Several give 1 egg for not including software. (DERP, it's sold as an OEM drive. lrn2read). Others just say "makes coasters". Coasters are rarely a drive fault, usually either bad media, software configuration error, or user error (e.g. burning a disc while doing an assload of other shit that bogs down the CPU and makes the burn fail, stomping/bumping the PC and making the drive skip, etc.)

Not saying _all_ the reviews are suspect - any product will have some that arrive DOA from shipping/handling problems etc, but it is the nature of reviews that you will get more of the very good and very bad than in between, because people usually can't be arsed unless they're either really happy, or really pissed off, which skews the results somewhat - there'll also be a fair amount in between that are satisfied and just can't be bothered to write a review.

Hm don't know what I was looking at yesterday. The ones I saw had 3/5 stars. I Googled Bluray drives and it must have taken me to an outdated link. I decided to go with an LG one as their products usually have good ratings.
