Cs:go

Wondering if there is going to be a CS:GO server at all. Used to play CSS once in a while. Haven't played much since D3 has been out, but about a 2-3 weeks ago I got bored in D3 and came back to TF2 and CS.

Thx

There were plans of one. That was at ffn. Vintage will need to answer this.

Basically: We had two vanilla servers, and they were always empty. I was told they weren't "set up right". Given that I don't own CS:GO, I had no way to go in and verify that they are working. Nor do I have the time to muck around with settings and the new "gamemodes.txt" setup they have given that I'm already taking care of the TF2 servers and some of the forum stuff.

We thought we found a solution when one of the other regulars offered to get me a good working base-config that would serve as a low-maintenace starting point for CS:GO. I'm still waiting on that config... and have been since some time in September, I believe.

So until I get a working server config in my hands, there won't be any CS:GO servers.
(Same story actually applies to CS:S as well).

The laziness is appalling.

CS:S already had perfect set ups (save for mistakes I made in zblock, which could easily be fixed). Unles,, of course, you deleted all those files. In which case, I just don't understand.

CS:GO, I just... no words.

Tach,

To say that people who are spending their free time supporting servers so that others get to have fun are lazy is pretty amusing.

For starters, I'd had people bring issues with the CS servers all the time, and when we asked people to work with us to make them better, we got some input, but the community at large drifted away on their own. None of them really came to the forums except for a few core members, and then the rest never really cared. We can't really support a community that just isnt communicating back to us till everything has gone to pot. I'm not saying you didnt try to pass that info on, but it was during the most turbulent times at FFN, which, wasn't good for ANY server. Flik was on the way out, we didnt get vintage till honestly everything was kind of SOL.

Secondly, for CS:GO, as nobody on the server side team is a CS or CSGO regular, they have no idea what the best configs would be except to spend a large amount of time to get those going and do the research. Vintage has enough projects getting the TF2 servers going keeping them updated, making things more stream lined and finding ways to make it so that Vault sustains itself so people can just hang out and have fun and not be like "OMG MONIES!!!". We could not get one setup properly without community support and interest

Thirdly, with the drop down to 1 box for servers, and with so far VERY little to NO interest from members that are still around, we arent just going to put one up willy nilly.

In a nutshell, we are NOT going to spread ourselves that thin, or waste the limited resources we do have when we just really dont have any interest from the community. I'd be interested in maybe putting up a CSGO server, but once again, we'd need some interest, and some help getting the configs up to make sure they are as the CSGO Community would want them. If somebody wants to help with that, I'm certain that Vintage would be more than happy to get things going with their help.

I've been saying this over and over. I'm MORE than willing to work with people to get a CS:GO/S server up. If nobody's interested enough to help get a server configured properly, it doesn't exactly speak well for the general interest to play in the server.

My offer still stands.

I gave up on CSGO because the playerbase is too low. The game has way too many bugs still. The playerbase on CSGO is lower than CSS and CS 1.6. You have to edit that gamemodes.txt everytime you update and when I tried the over ride it never worked right. I would say stick to your TF2 servers for now. I have my old config file if you want me to post it but theres problems with auto balance on it also and theres not many mods for CSGO either that would help with scrambling.

Community interest and a server config. ;)

However, with enough of the former, someone is bound to be willing to help out with the latter.

I have had at least 2 or 3 people come asking me questions about this subject. I think interest could be growing but its a waiting game to see if it grows more... Only time will tell eh.

Yup, that's pretty much it. I've said it before, I have no problem putting up a server if there's enough community interest and involvement in getting one going (and we have the resources).
