We Reached Our Monthly Revenue Goal - Now What?

Ladies and Gentlemen of the Vault F4 Community,

Today we had to tackle a problem, but for once it was a good problem. What are we going to do when we hit our supporter money goal for the month? Sure its really easy to say lets keep it all in the bank and hoard it all to ourselves so we can expand and all of that, but it just didn't seem like our style anymore as we are more about the gaming community and fun.

We came up with a solution!

From today moving forward any revenue we get from supporters beyond our monthly goal (we have to still pay the bills) a percentage will start getting taken out and go straight to charity. Here is how it will work.

$0-Monthly Goal - 0%
Monthly Goal - 2x Monthly Goal - 10%
2x Monthly Goal - 3x Monthly Goal - 20%
3x Monthly Goal - 4x Monthly Goal - 30%
4x Monthly Goal - 5x Monthly Goal - 40%
5x Monthly Goal - Infinity - 50%

Current Goal = $250
$0-$250 - 0%
$250 - $500 - 10% ( so every penny over $250 starts getting 10%+ taken out to give to charities)
$500 - $750 - 20%
$750 - $1000 - 30%
$1000 - $1250 - 40%
$1250 - Infinity - 50%*
(*at this point we would be donating at least $500 as $1000 is the surplus. 50% is the cap we can go)

So not only are we going to be helping our beloved Vault F4 we are going to be giving the gift of gaming to the youngsters in this world who are not as fortunate as we are. Help them enjoy life a little during a miserable time sitting in a hospital.

We will be donating to Childs Play - http://www.childsplaycharity.org

Thanks to all of our supporters!!

This is amazing! I'm so glad you're doing something like this with the additional revenue. You have my backing!

Great choice guys. Wish I had the cash to support VF4/Childplay at the time, but I'm still glad to be a part of the community that does such a thing :D

Let me throw an opposing thought at you. While it's nice and all that the extra money is going to charity, i am not so sure that is the best thing to do right now, considering this community is all but a month old...

Celebrate this milestone of reaching your goal for now, but you are getting people on the high of a new community AND using an attractive competition. While it is entirely possible your donations will grow from here, let us not forget the past and realize they can also dwindle as the high/competition goes away.

In my opinion, the money should be kept in a coffer as insurance for the upcoming months.

Let 3 or 4 or 5 months go by and see how your donations settle in. If they start going below your threshold, you have a little insurance for that. And the money that people donated expecting to keep their community alive will do just that.

Perhaps make the donation quarterly as to not put yourself in the predicament i explained above. After a quarter or perhaps every 6 months, you can assess the state of the community and make your donation accordingly.

If you guys really want your community to survive, i honestly see this as a safer way to go.

Thanks for the input. This is exactly the reason why we did it in percentages. So if we just barely squeek by for the month a couple dollars given to charity never hurt anyone it only helps people. If we double our goal then there we go we have extra money to save plus again we get to help people. Saving $2 or even $25 for that matter is not going to make or break us and we get to do something positive.

In all honesty, yeah we could use the money in the future. But those kids could use it a hell of a lot more, and now.

At least as far as I see it.
