[Completed] Dreck the Opossum's application

Dreck the Opossum

Well-Known Member
In Game Name: Dreck the Opossum

Have you linked your steam account to the forum?: No. I don't want to link my steam account to any forum in case of password leaks.

HLStats Profile Link: https://www.vaultf4.com/hlstats/hlstats.php?mode=playerinfo&player=692

Time with Vault F4: According to the hlstats page, 9 solid days, but I've been playing for at least 4 months now.

Position you are applying for: Game Admin: TF2 Classic

Reason(s) you want to be admin/Moderator: Keep servers clean in the late night hours when I'm always on. Due to my job I'm always on in the early morning hours, midnight to 7 am-ish, and there's almost always no active moderators for the severs during these times. I've seen countless sessions and games driven empty by aimbotters ect. during these times. Tonight was another example of that. I want to help the community feel like they're not out by themselves by being there to squash troublemakers during the off-hours.

Anything else you'd like to tell us about yourself?: I'm a 24 year old asexual furry who hates biggots and will die for my transgender friends.

I understand that by creating this thread and signing my name, that I am applying to Volunteer my time with Vault F4 in either a Moderator or Game Administrator role. As a Moderator I would be in charge of content creation, and post moderation of my section of the forums. As a Game Server admin I would be responsible for keeping the game servers a fun enviroment. I will spend atleast an hour of my time each week on the servers to retain my position as a Gameserver admin with Vault F4, and if I do not meet the requirement my admin status will be revoked.

Hi there!

Thanks for your application and interest in supporting the community. I can understand your privacy concerns, but unfortunately, you will need to link your steam account as that is how we manage permissions and access control in the servers via the forum back-end. We have a number of automated systems and integrations, and given our size and complexity it's just not practical for me to manage these things manually in multiple places.

In this case, all "linking" does is verify that you are the owner of the Steam account in question and prevents issues with mistyped or malformed Steam IDs. This is a standard "OAuth" configuration, in case you're interested in the technical details.

We never see your password for Steam when you link - You will be redirected to an official Steam page in order to supply your steam credentials, you'll be verified entirely in Steam's domain, and all we get in return when the process finishes is your "STEAM_o:" number as an identifier.

It is a one-way link and it will not be possible to sign into your Steam account using our forum account, and you also cannot sign into the forum account via Steam unless you have signed in to Steam already in the browser session.

I'm happy to have a more technical discussion via DM on the specifics if you wish.

Regards,
~VintagePC
