Diablo 3's Auction House Was a Mistake

Geoff

Sir "Let's Play"

In response to what Jay WIlson said...no. Building the game around needing to use the auction house was a mistake. I wasn't someone who delved into mechanics, but from what I understood, the game was made so that items would be so rare that you would just eventually go to the AH.

The way I saw it, the AH was added in to keep people from using other sites and possibly getting their money stolen. Obviously that was a decent idea, but the implementation was horrible.

Expanding on Force's question, would any Ex-Diablo 3 players here return if the AH was removed? Personally, I think if someone just spent time looking at the AH for their items instead of killing and looting for it, then they aren't diablo players. Why? Because you could do the same in D2 but that doesn't mean everyone did. >_>

The AH had no real effect on how I enjoyed the game. The game just did not have the draw of the old game and the loot tables for bosses were crap. It is still fun to fire up a new character, but I feel no desire to grind out a high level character just for gear.

You know what I find strange though?

Back in D2, I'd spend every day (8 hours minimum) going on my Hammerdin or Sorc and doing the same 4 boss runs. Over and over and over and over. It never got boring. Every time I did it I was waiting for that really cool drop.

I don't know why, but D3 doesn't have the same feeling. And for those TL2 fans, that game doesn't either. My friend is trying to get me back into both those games now though. Haven't played D3 since last year November or something, so maybe it has hugely changed.

I am debating bothering to reinstall it. Maybe if I had some people to play new characters with I would be more tempted.

i never got to play d3 with people always on my own and after i beat the game once i never really saw the point of it then blizzard added in more levels to grind and i said screw it and uninstalled it as well why bother leveling up to 60 then having a whole different set of levels to grind up and then again like come on :/

now tl2 was still fun tho for the most part :p

Because the leveling makes you stronger. And gives you more magic find IIRC. Besides, killing in D3 felt good compared to TL2.
