The best shows end too quick?

Geoff

Sir "Let's Play"
So, my friend called tonight and said he had just finished watching the show Weeds with his girlfriend. He said that he felt like a small part of him died because he realized he finally finished it. It got me thinking. The best shows truly end early. Basically any show that keeps going and going tends to have a shitty season or 2 or MORE.

Obviously that's all kind of opinion. I look at House and think the last two seasons DRAGGED on even though the finale kicked ass. Scrubs was great till the last season, which I've never seen in full because it lost the "scrubs" charm. My two favorite animes, Death Note and Code Geass were 2 seasons. TWO. And they were both brilliant.

Can anyone think of a show that has 6+ seasons and is STILL good? Doctor Who doesn't count. =P As far as I am concerned, it restarted itself at the ninth doctor and started up again. I never got into the Simpsons, but I've heard it has gone downhill years ago. Family Guy lost its charm as well. =/

Well actually the reboot is on the 7th season now, so it can count.

Everything loses it charm at some point, it's just inevitable. Look at Call of Duty, 4 was the the last good one, since then downhill, though Zombies has saved BO, and BO2, from being the worst games. But honestly I so many of the shows I watch, have been cancelled or had a proper ending, that I just stopped looking for new things to watch, since all the good shows are gone.

I just look at Alphas with sadness. An amazing show and the cliffhanger on season 2 pisses me off because they didn't renew for a third season. That's not cool. And yet we have shit like American Idol still going and ghost hunting shows. What the fuck...

Doctor Who (which started LONG before the Ninth Doctor), Lost, M.A.S.H., Space Ghost Coast to Coast, Rugrats, King of the Hill, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Married with Children, Stargate SG-1, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, All in the Family, South Park, The Red Green Show

There are so many shows that should have either gotten an extra season or movie to finish it off or some shows that overstayed their welcome.

SHOWS THAT SHOULD HAVE LIVED
Though Firefly got a movie it still could have had more seasons, though there is talk about it possibly coming back as an animated series with everyone coming back to do the voices. Reaper was a hilarious show that was saved from cancellation once but when they brought it back they never advertised it so it never got its ratings up to live on. Greg the Bunny was just an awesome series from seth green and I'm sure if they brought it back it would fit right in with the Animation Domination on sunday night. Pushing Daisies is from the same creator that tried to bring back the Munsters and also created Dead Like Me which is also a great series that could have gone on for longer; if you haven't seen either of these series you should check them out on Netflix. There are so many others but I'll end my list with Invader Zim, a well animated and dark humour series that could work great on adult swim or fox but is stuck being owned by nickelodeon.

SHOWS THAT OVERSTAYED THEIR WELCOME
Supernatural this is a show that has way overstayed its welcome. For the past three years they keep saying that the current season is the last one but they keep renewing it and every year it just gets weirder; how many times can they die before they stay dead? How I Met your Mother this show should have ended three years ago, it's great that it brought NPH back to the spotlight, but come on already he's dated over 20 woman since the show started just pick the mother already. I hate to say it but I think Glee is starting to overstay its welcome, this season has just gotten stupid they should either have a college and highschool show or just pick one because going back and forth between the two is killing what story there is. American Idol so tired of hearing about this show, but I am happy to hear that this year is its lowest ratings ever and is going down. Two and a Half Men should have ended when charlie left.
