Or, y'know, use this thread to subtly whore your PC specs because you're running 2048x texture packs and you have 128GB RAM with a 16 core processor and all us regular schmoes are stuck with 256x I'm partial to LB Photorealistic and RPG packs. Currently running 128x, am trying to get 256 working. http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic...te-12272012-rpg-realism-131-updated-10122012/
My current texture pack is: Soartex Fanver: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/824150-147-soartex-fanver-smooth-and-clean-23/ Forgot to mention: this has FTB support found here: http://forum.feed-the-beast.com/threads/64x-soartex-fanver-smooth-and-clean-ftb.2087/ updated: added FTB link
Hate to break it to you but you're probably limted to a 4x4 pack with that little memory Kidding aside, standard calculation is look how much memory MC takes up, you'll need 4x that amount to go up 1 size in texture pack (e.g. 16x16 to 32x32) A bit crude since not all of MC's memory use is textures, but gives you a good idea of what to expect.
Vintage has nice pointers. I run that texture pack and allocate 4GB to MC. I rarely go above 2GB used. CPU stays at around 50% though @ 3.4 GHz. (I also use a stupidly high FOV, if that matters).)
the one i use http://forum.feed-the-beast.com/threads/32x-johnsmith-technicians-remix.741/ has support for all the mods in any of the ftb packs and any major tech mod that isnt part of it yet and yes its just a 32x pack but its an epic pack none the less http://i.imgur.com/ujCZz.jpg is the link to the full picture of the last one(its a lot bigger then the rest so i did not link it to show up directly)
On the Feed The Beast Launcher you should see a tab for texture packs click that and you should then see the Soartex texture pack.
