i7 chips are not worth the premium unless you are using the computer for rendering or mass computations of some sort. The high end i5's are by far the best gaming chips available especially when consider the overclocking headroom.

Never have to turn off the highest settings, though some newer things need the antialiasing and other dumb stuff shut off.
