I would like to announce that at the end of this month (December 2022) we will be shutting down our official AU TF2Classic servers.
This is due to a combination of factors, namely an increase in hosting costs from our provider, and a lack of player activity on these servers. Below is a graph of the AU VPS statistics over the past year where you can see there was a brief increase in popularity once the downloads were resumed, which steadily trailed off to only a handful of players at sporadic intervals. We had hoped that we might see a renewed interest with the most recent update that would justify keeping these servers up for longer.
This is by no means a permanent decision and we are certainly willing to revisit this in the future should there be renewed interest in having official TF2C servers in the region.
As you may know, we are funded primarily through donations and we have to be mindful of our expenses - this VPS isn't going to break the bank, but at this time it approximately cancels out our increased costs for our other infrastructure.
