Dodgeball - Future Plans and ChangeLog

Over the past few days we've been thrilled at the number of folks enjoying the new NA Dodgeball server, and so I'd like to outline some of the changes we've made since launch, our future plans, and also to use this thread as a changelog for our customizations. It's a throwback to the glory days of TF2 and holds a fond place in my heart since we both used to host a TF2 Dodgeball server and I have spent many hours playing it.

First off - yes, we will be adding an EU instance, probably during the coming week. We're still in the process of adding a few features and ironing out bugs and it's just easier to manage and test a single instance right now.

These upcoming changes I would like to make include some additional rocket behaviours (specifically, rockets that do not kill on impact but apply other effects), improving the visibility of the Jarate and Brick, adding some more detonation effects.

Additionally, I will look at enabling multi-rocket mode (it had to be patched during the initial port to TF2C) and, of course, that necessitates multiple RocketCams :)

I'll do my best to keep updating the list below as I make noteworthy changes.

And lastly... given the positive response, we may look at running other TF2 "Fun Mode" servers on TF2C, but this is often challenging because most of the plugins require TF2Items or similar extensions to manage user weapons, whereas TF2C has an incompatible item management system. It's not an easy lift for me as I'm not a full-time SourceMod developer, but who knows what the future may hold...

    • Introducing RocketCam™ - you can now first-person spectate the rockets!
    • Minor patch to fix merc rockets being incorrect colour after RED or BLU deflect
    • Removed chat-spam from plugin applying effects to players
    • Increased size of brick to 150% for better visibility.
  • Dec 30,2023:
    • Updated 4-team Nuke skin to have GRN and YLW
    • Added Jarate and Brick Rockets
      • Jarate deals Piss Splash AOE effect that makes you nauseated (5 seconds)
      • Brick will AOE BONK and freeze you for 5 seconds.
    • Updated Spy Rocket (Sprocket?) - Now turns players in AOE area invisible for 10 seconds.
  • Dec 29, 2023:
    • Updated plugin to support 4-Team Dodgeball and added arena_flask as our first 4-team map!
    • Added ProxMine and Hoovy Rockets
      • Prox mine gets bigger every deflection and AOE damage is proportional to its speed
      • Hoovy has new way to kill cowards.... POW, HAHA!
    • Patched spawn sounds to play to all players and not originate from the rocket
    • Fixed flamethrower model and ammunition now shows "infinite" symbol
  • Dec 28, 2023:
    • Added Civ Rocket and Spy Rocket
      • Spy is coming for you.... and then off to visit your mother!
      • Civ is terrified for his life... until Brollykins smacks you good.
  • Dec 27, 2023:
    • The birth of Dodgeball for TF2C!
