[Resolved] banned appeal

I don't actually know what I got banned for LIFE. But I remember playing and trolling somebody, and I do not want to mention his or her name. I do have video on the internet, but I do not have a copy with me anymore since my mom broke my HDD. Thank you, mom. Not jk.

I didn't realize I was banned for "Racism/hate speech" But I clearly remember not doing that.

I no longer have the video that actually shows what happened. However, I have edited and posted footage to YouTube. I would much rather DM it to you.

I reviewed the information available to me and you received the ban for saying some things in voice chat that are considered offensive to the trans members of the community. (hence, the ban reason)

This is a violation of server rule 3:

No hate speech or harassment is allowed. This includes (but is not limited to) racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, bullying, and use of racial, ethnic, and anti-LGBT slurs. Likewise, glorification of nazis, or use of nazi imagery and symbols, is grounds for an immediate permanent ban.

Per our other policies on permanent bans, this ban is not eligible for appeal until 1 year has passed from the original date it was issued.

You will be able to open a new appeal on 04-23-24 and we will consider your request anew then.

So I'm banned for life?

You are banned until at least 04-23-2024 (about 3 more months), at which point you may make another appeal thread. Then we will reconsider, and if we believe a second chance is warranted you would be able to play again.

This is outlined in our server rules section on punishment duration:

Your ban was issued on 04-23-23, so that would make it less than one year old.

Each appeal is different and while I can't really give you any specific advice, in most cases after the 1-year period has elapsed we will consider the appeal based on the severity of the infraction and whether there have been further incidents from those involved.

If there's nothing of note we may extend a pardon for the infraction, which comes with the caveat that the ban will remain on record and you're considered to have been made inexcusably aware of the rules, which means that further infractions may result in an immediate reinstatement of the ban with no further chance for appeal.

Is there any evidence to show that this was true?

Yes, we require staff to attach evidence along with their ban submissions and it is independently reviewed on an appeal; if there is no or insufficient evidence the senior staff do not uphold the ban and will grant the appeal.

In this case there was video evidence of gameplay and I'm not sure if it can be shared here while protecting the anonymity of the submitter.
